Is Bukidnon being heard?

In the midst of the country's political turmoil, how is the province I used to reside for almost 20 years? All I could do is hope and pray that they are doing fine and that they are taking this "historical dilemma embracing our nation" in a liberal and vigilant manner. I recall the time when Manila was too busy rallying on the streets to oust former president Joseph Estrada. My folks were attentive to the media and I myself never laid back on my sensitivity on how Luzon's decision would lead. Malaybalay or Bukidnon at that, is a part of the Philippine archipelago. But are our voices heard? I guess not.

Currently, another people power has transcribed and voices are taken on the streets again. Too bad for me I could no longer witness how my colleagues and neighbors would react to the present situation. I personally think our region never wanted to change the president way back during EDSA 2. But clearly, it was the voice of Luzon that surfaced. We felt undermined. We never had the chance to air our sentiments. Just recently, I witnessed how the people in Luzon took their pride on the streets. But same as usual, I haven't heard the voices of those from my hometown.

Perhaps this is because media is absent (or not that blatant) in our place. And media is apparently the best path to be heard. To be informed. That is one aspect I would like to raise. This then leads me to the point of charter change. Maybe it's the hope that we need to become independent and be heard. If we are federalized then maybe we'll have an ABS-CBN or GMA. Whatsoever. We need our opinions to be given importance. To be a part of the country's decisions.

Do they want a knew president? Do they feel robbed by the present government? Are they supporting Jun Lozada as much as Luzon stress it? How about Visayas? I have no idea. But soon, in week's time, I shall be able to hear their heeds and I intend to have it heard nationwide. So that Philippines will be Philippines, not just a geological subdivision where the cities are heard and the mountains aren't. This crippled nation needs help. Trust me, it does.

Belligerent with P36/day

Today is the EDSA anniversary and songs have been written in aide of showing how democracy in the country ravishes through our blood. Hence I can see it all as just a facade of the truth that lies beneath it. Our nation is in crisis, yet, there are those who manage to have a good night sleep. Sometimes, I ask my boyfriend (who is very liberal with the subject on politics--you can check his blog to confirm that) in a casual conversation, "do we need a new president?" (just visit is page for his answer). Then I realized that we somehow share the same stance on the subject. I came to a point where I can no longer swallow the words I hear from political hypocrites and quasi-dictators ruling our nation.

It appears to me that the country is no longer the promise land that I used to reside in. The explicitness of lies by political icons, military leaders and the moral ascendancy of (used-to-be) modern day heroes are disregarded by those whom I would like to call alter ego descendants of the elite few. It's like, they could lie and talk and turn every person's head without having constitutional consequences. It seems like they don't even care if the whole world is watching and has heard them. "What's to lose anyway?"--is that it?

What has to be done to help save the country? What kind of future is at stake for these kids whose parents are earning less than a dollar a day? I remember a documentation by Jay Taruc which stressed NSO expressing the fact that "a Filipino may survive with 36 pesos a day." (oh come on, where's reality here?) That's not even enough for one meal (personally speaking). This leads me to the issue that boggles the society today. There are alleged millions++ of kickbacks and commissions that some politicians get from government projects. Wooohh... How about lifting the P36 a day budget per person? Share it to them instead. Err.. Goodness.

Natively Bukidnon

Beauty pageants and runway shows in Malaybalay City--even in the province of Bukidnon--normally have their candidates or models showcase ethnic attires in opening the program. These photos were taken from the events I have joined or participated at that in the province. Well, it just goes to show that Bukidnon keeps the fire of its culture burning even though the community is already dipped in the thrills of modern fashion. I wore a purely beaded attire (see in slideshow below) in a tourism event, March last year and honestly, it was reeeally weighty. This is the caption on that photo: "I got confused on how to react wearing that thing made of beads (ONLY) twas kinda heavy to wear.. haha! but then again, I held no choice but to quack =p or mah lola would kill me." Rock on!

Crisis Management for Hotels

A dilemma is a typical thing that happens in any place. No one holds time and there will always be inevitable things that come along the way--expected or unexpected. However, these inevitable changes can be managed if one is prepared. Crisis management is an important tool not only to average individuals but especially for hotel managers. Here are a few tips:

Facility

In bomb incidences, the most efficient way to aide the incident is through a forced shut down of all the electrical circuits to avoid a spread in the damage caused by the garage explosion. The safest way then is to seek for help from individuals who are most able and expert in containing electrical and technical problems so as to keep entities which can still be saved and stop possible contagious dents which might gravely affect the whole hotel itself.

First Responders
The most intellectual move to take being the manager or the head of the entity is to seek for help from those who are held responsible for the explosion or the attack for that instance (Rothwell). Perceivably, the most ideal respondents would be the police, the fire department and emergency rescue team units to help in expunging the possible consequences of the incident.

Guests
Being a public entity, the occupants shall surely feel a desperate form of emotion over hat happened, which might also affect anyone who works in the hotel, them being held liable for whatsoever circumstance. By then, the best way is to identify the culprit of the commotion, and give fair justice on those who were innocent, and offer proper compensation as well.

Insurance Agents
A fair deal over the damage and the investment would be well taken following the regulations in insurance statements and through the assistance of a legal counsel for that matter. It is safe to not make a move not unless the incident has been critically analyzed and deliberated. The lawyer shall then study the event and the most proficient way to clean up the mess.

Movies that thrill me

Every individual’s sentiment is most often triggered when a heart warming story captivates the compassion of a reader. In this certain point, a reader tends to shoe the role played by a character and is able to relate basing on one’s experiences. Most readers dwell more on the dramatic events of a story, poetry of realism or on the climax of the whole gist of the chronicle. Movies, for that instance, play a big role in every person. It may be have implicit results, but every movie watched always give an impact—positively or negatively. Thus, it also depends on what movies one love to watch. But that is beyond the essence of this article. Here are movies which randomly came to my senses and I have indiscriminately watched:

Civil Service Exam Result October 2007 Examination

I scoured the internet for the results of the Civil Service Exams Career Service Examination-Paper and Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) for both Professional and Sub-professional levels (SEE LINK FOR OFFICIAL RESULTS BELOW) but for so many times I was dumbfounded to see that the latest update for the website of the Civil Service Commission was dated January 24, 2007. But since I was so eager to find the results, I googled it over but the results that flashed before me were Yahoo! Answers and the website of the CSC but sad to realize that latest they only had the results for July 22, 2007.

So for quite a while, the skeptic me gave up and (sad to say) but awful thought came up to me. The country is sick again, and the government is in stagnant state so to speak. However, this blog won't serve any significance if I'd just end the story that way. On the night of January 31, 2008, I again diveted my enthusiasm over social network sites and googled over the civil service exam results. Still, the hits gave me the same ol' story. Results which led me to an emtpy crap. Hence, I managed to google some more and tried numerous 'tags' which might give me the "much awaited CSC exam results" and there.. I came across the 2008 News Releases of the government entity.

CSC stops rechecking of civil service test results THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) shall no longer accept requests for rechecking of results of its various examinations. This, following the recent issuance of a directive on the Termination of the Rechecking of Results of Civil Service Examinations contained in CSC Resolution No. 072342 dated December 12, 2007. In directing the termination of rechecking of test results, the Commission particularly cited that “statistical probability of passing the test after rechecking is very remote”. Data gathered from the last three years revealed that machine scoring is highly reliable and accurate. Rechecking of results in all types of civil service examinations will be discontinued beginning with the results of the October 28, 2007 Career Service Examination-Paper and Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) for both Professional and Sub-professional levels. This means that requests for rechecking of results of the October 28, 2007 CSE-PPT and all examinations... Read more..

Finally, I saw a post dated "2008" on the website. To my surpise, it was the light beneath my path. Okay, I know you want to know the site so I won't make this longer. Below is the URL of the civil service exams results for those who took the exam OCTOBER 2007.

Filipina for Obama

I found this video on Barack Obama's Website. Geez, I am not an American but I was moved by the video and the campaign itself. I believe it's obvious that a lot of people believe in him. It is very rare that a voter actually believe and trust a presidentiable. As a matter of fact, everytime I see him give his speech on TV, I am honestly diverted to a dimension of hope (and that is very unusual for a filipina, come to think of it, the Philippine government can't even gain the trust of their fellowmen). Yes, I could not participate in the elections, but I do know for a fact that whoever wins the White House, will gradually impact not only America but the other countries as well, Philippines would be on top of th list since our president have close ties with US. I do hope he'd be the International Commander in Chief so that he could change and help not only the citizens of the United States of America but including 3rd world countries which are crumbling down (I guess I need not to specify what I'm talking about). He's not only smart and determined to help people but he proves himself worthy to build a nation anchored with trust from the citizens and in return help them improve their way of living. I haven't personally seen him, but I can tell he's sincere with every word he says. I hope my country would have a president that'll move me too. But the best I could ever do to extend my support for him is by posting this blog and share my thoughts on Obama's potential to my friends and relatives in US.

YES WE CAN. Believe me, HE CAN and HE WILL if Americans will give him the chance. YOU DECIDE.

Family Guy Ultimate Episode

I believe you've heard about the controversy on Family Guy. About the show being undeniably racist, pornographic, immoral and absolutely not advisable for children to watch. Well, this video is the perfect representation of the aforementioned descriptions about the show. And not only that, this video is trying to mock Him. (yes, it does.) Hmm.. You may have diverse reactions and comments on the video. Do you find it funny? Do you find it disgusting? I dunno. Sup to you.

Metrobank Tambayan Blues

These are my colleagues at work. It was a payday. So, we were hell-a-excited to have our cheques in-cashed at the bank. Guh! To our dismay, the priority numbers we had were millions away from reality. I mean like, we had to wait for about 4 hours to be accomodated and heto pa mahn, it seemed like there was a barangay convention inside the bank. Siksikan talaga! Me gush. So to compensate the discouraging moment, we took pictures and videos after the event. Whew! I just hoped the money we in-cashed were enough to feed our hungry tummies.

Grunge Night at UPLB S.U.

This video was taken during the Grunge Night 2007 at University of the Philippines - Los Baños Student Union building. It was a cool night though. Frat Men were there. I think the event was spearheaded by Dan's fraternity. Gamma Eps (i think?) Okay. There were several bands who performed and trust me, the place was rocking. However, it felt a little awkward since there was a "cultural exhibit" around a meter away from the activity.
